I remember my first solo trip as a parent. I went to Salem and I was so excited, but I had this nagging guilt. I thought “I shouldn’t be doing this without my son.” “I should be at home with Trent.” The truth is that just simply isn’t true. Traveling alone allows you to find yourself. It allows you to breathe.
When I started traveling alone I really started to connect with myself. I found new hobbies and interests. I figured out who i was outside of being just a mother. It was so important for my growth. You are a full person. You deserve to have time for yourself.
I encourage you to get out. I encourage you to start exploring this incredible world we with in with no guilt. I want you to try new things. Meet new people. Find new interests. It doesn’t have to be an extravagant vacation. Go on a camping trip or a weekend getaway, BUT GET OUT! Your kids will thank you. You can only be a good parent when you are filling your own cup. There will be so much opportunity to travel as a family. I promise you that you won’t be a bad parent.
