FFA Chapters across the nation will be celebrating National FFA week February 17-24. This year, FFA reached nearly 946,000 members across all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Here in Wisconsin, membership has reached its highest ever, with over 25,000 students.
This year, Wisconsin FFA’s theme is “Ignite” and members state-wide are preparing to do just that. FFA chapters will be celebrating with many different public service projects as well as holding special assemblies in their respected schools advocating and telling the story of agriculture.
During FFA Week, members across the nation will celebrate National Days of Service, FFA Alumni Day, Ag Teacher Appreciation Day, and Give FFA Day.
New this year is the Wisconsin FFA Foundation’s goal of raising $50,000 for our members. Each State FFA Officer is challenging those in their Section to raise money, earning donors rewards during the 95th Wisconsin FFA Convention in June.
Mary Schireber is serving as the Wisconsin State FFA President. She has more of a non-traditional agriculture background but fell in love with FFA and beekeeping. To celebrate National FFA Week, she shares more about her involvement in FFA and what the week looks like for members across the state.
Linsey Mueller is also a Wisconsin State FFA officer and serves as the treasurer. She joined the Mid-West Farm Report to discuss the importance of FFA week and all the different opportunities that individuals have to celebrate with the FFA.
