The Jefferson County Fair celebrated its 2024 Hall of Fame inductees during a recognition event on Wednesday, November 20, at the Jefferson County Fair Park. The honorees—Cindy Jaquith, Paul Majors, the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson County, and Roger Kylmanen—were acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to the fair, exemplifying dedication, service, and community spirit.
Hosted by Fair Park Director Becky Roberts, the event welcomed friends, family, and community members to honor the inductees. Roberts remarked, “Each of these individuals and organizations has played a vital role in shaping the Jefferson County Fair. Their efforts have ensured its growth, tradition, and success for future generations.”
Cindy Jaquith
For nearly 30 years, Cindy Jaquith has been a cornerstone of the Jefferson County Fair. Although she didn’t participate as a child, her involvement began when her children joined fair activities. Known for her behind-the-scenes leadership, Cindy supports youth exhibitors with passion and commitment. She serves as a Fair Superintendent, advocating for exhibitors and coordinating the Hospitality Tent for the Animal Auction and Youth Celebration event. Cindy’s dedication continues to leave a lasting impact on the fair’s success.
Paul Majors
As Whitewater FFA Advisor for nearly 25 years, Paul Majors has volunteered extensively with the Jefferson County Fair. He works closely with young exhibitors, offering training tips and support for their projects. Known for his optimistic “glass half full” attitude, Paul is a constant presence at the fair, assisting members and ensuring a positive experience for all. His dedication and enthusiasm have strengthened the fair’s connection to the community.
Kiwanis Club of Jefferson County
The Kiwanis Club has supported the fair since its early days. In 1988, club members removed the old grandstand and helped construct a new one. True to their mission of serving children, the Kiwanis Club has provided scholarships to local youth for nearly 45 years. The club also operates a food booth featuring baked potatoes and corn on the cob, with proceeds funding scholarships. Additionally, the group organizes “Take a Kid Fishing Day,” an event creating lasting memories for youth, which will celebrate its 25th year in 2024.
Roger Kylmanen
Roger Kylmanen contributed significantly to the fair’s logistics during his two decades as Fair Park Supervisor. He managed vendor placement, animal care, and barn usage with meticulous attention to detail. Though not involved in 4-H as a youth, Roger formed strong connections with 4-H families and took pride in the fair’s growth. He particularly enjoyed the expansion of the music scene and horse shows at the fair. Even after retiring in August 2020, Roger’s legacy remains vital to the Fair Park operations. His wife, Daisy, accepted the award on his behalf, honoring his lasting contributions.
The Jefferson County Fair continues to thrive thanks to the dedication and passion of individuals and organizations like these 2024 Hall of Fame inductees.
