I can’t believe the kids are starting school this week. It seems like yesterday they were just having their last day of school and starting summer vacation. This summer has flown by, and while I can’t wait for the crisp fall air and soup season I still want to embrace the last days of summer. Here are a few of my favorite ways to end summer with a bang.

Water Balloon Fight

Trent and I started this tradition way back before we even moved to Eau Claire. We have an annual water balloon fight to say goodbye to summer and welcome in the new school year. Yes, adults have to participate. We just fill up as many water balloons as we can and go to town.

One Last Fire

There’s nothing better than having one last bonfire to say goodbye to summer. Grab all the things you need for s’mores and do some star gazing while the weather is still warm enough to enjoy being outside after dark.

Have an Ice Cream Date

Take the kiddos out to get some ice cream and take a stroll downtown. And who doesn’t love ice cream? It’s the best treat for summer time and soon enough it will be too cold to enjoy.

Outdoor Movie Night

This is a great opportunity to enjoy some fresh air while watching your favorite movies under the stars. Set up a projector, grab some popcorn and enjoy your last warm summer nights.

I hope your enjoy your last few nights of warm weather and sunshine! And cheers to a new school year. Let’s make it a great one!
